DEPARTMENTAL PROFILE
The
department of English has been established for UG
in 1974 and PG for 1986. The department received
recognition for its socio-cultural work. The department has signed MOU with R. R. Patil Mahavidyalaya, Savlaj to co-operate in educational, academic, research
events of mutual interest as well as in trainings. Apart from syllabus based
learning, the department has conducted other Skill Based Courses to
strengthen the ability and quality of the students department runs Certificate Course in Basics in English and Bridge Course,
along with this, students are encouraged to participate in Co-curricular and
extra-curricular activities arranged in the college and outside. The department
has formed Literary Association for organising various curricular and co-curricular
activities under Literary Association. Department organizers inaugural
function of association at the beginning of every academic year and
organizes various programs. The department also organizes one day workshop on enhancing communication skills for the
overall development of the students department also conduct activities like Career
Opportunities in English, Debate, wallpaper presentation, the department
has started best practice a step for social
welfare from academic year, 2023-24.
To
introduce students with great Indian English authors like R. K. Narayan the department of English organized poster presentation activity on the
occasion of his birth anniversary. To make
teaching-learning process Learners centric, the department conducts ICT
based lectures, which includes screening
some of plays of the late Dr. Radhakrishnan, each year. The students
of optional and special English has been celebrating Shakespeare’s birth and death
anniversary on 23rd April. To develop skills of students, the
department recently established well equipped interactive Language Laboratory.
The
department constantly involves in research, innovative activities. As an
outcome, the student of the department placed in various sectors, along with
university examinations department, has adopted Continuous Internal
Evaluation system as a result, PG students Ms.
Ashwini Chavan, Ms. Pallavi Yadav, Ms. Sanjivani Patil received Shivaji
University, Kolhapur merits scholarship of the academic year
2023-24. Ms. Ankita Magdum from B.A.
I (Batch 2025-26) had qualified for district level Avishkar competition. Some alumni
had qualified MH SET EXAM Ms. Manisha Thorat (SET 2024) Ms. Pranaya
Patil (SET 2025), Ms. Sayali Khatal (SET 2025). As a result of extra-curricular
activities, Ms. Karishma Aiwale alumina
of the department working in famous Marathi daily soap Sindhutai Majhi
Mai, she also acted in Marathi film, Galli and Madira
as second lead character.
